steering columns
« on: September 11, 2007 - 12:59:12 AM »
I have a 73 cuda with manual steering and a 74 cuda with powersteering.  can I use the non powersteering unit in the power steering car?  also what is the difference in the wiring harnesses in these two cars.  I see  year one has different part numbers for all the harnesses.   Finally how can I purchase a big block engine harness for a 74 model?  what have you guys done?  sorry for all the questions. ebody newbie here.

the power steering can be swapped but you need to also swap the column as they are different lengths
you should be able to buy a big block engine harness & move the wires around in the firewall plug on the new harness to match the wiring in you car , they all use the same firewall plugs
not sure what the difference is in the wiring harness , which harness are you asking about ? , the engine harness had a plug near the firewall so the engine could be installed wired & just plugged into the engine compartmment harness once installed
