This was a pain to patch.

There wasn't much to weld to.

The other side is worse. I may have to do something different with it. :-\

Well I was just too busy with honey-dos this month to get anything done on the car.  :(
But the deal is she gets a covered porch and I get to do nothing but work on the car next hitch home.  :jumping:

:iagree: Nice addition on the porch........Too bad some of the Challenger/Cuda parts aren't made of wood..........a lot easier to work with..

OK...
...the deal is, she gets an aquarium...

...and I get to do nothing but work on the car the rest of the time home.

For anyone that believes that, I've got a numbers matching '72 cuda with a 426 Hemi I'll sell ya!!!  :naughty:

But seriously, the porch and the aquarium are things we've both been wanting.
We both want the car finished as well but it's kind of a "back burner" project.

My first attempt at fabricating the wheel well lip was very ugly.   :eek4:

So I started over. Using masking tape as a template I cut some other pieces from the old quarter.

I'm much happier with the result.

So far the only problem with the new quarter is the holes for the rear valance not matching. The bottom hole is about
a quarter of an inch too high. But it should be an easy fix. The trunk extension drop off will be a challenge fit up.
I'm stoked to get the quarter welded in, but now I'm thinking that it might be better to get the tail light panel, the trunk lid
and the valance all fitting right before I weld in the quarter and the extension.
Does that sound about right?

I'm in the middle of doing the same quarter.....  ;D   yes, I think you should fit up everything before any final welding on the quarter.

Great work!

I also agree that you should test fit everything many many times before welding any sheet metal. I only quickly checked the fitment of my deck lid before welding the quarter panel and now I'm having some problems with the fitment. Nothing serious but I still need to use some brute force to get everything lined up good enough.

You can never fit things toghether too many times, but after a while of checking the fit you just want to weld, weld , weld. :banghead: I thought i had mine fitting perfect, when i was done i found that i had a large gap all the way around my trunk lid. I have the trunk centered, but i still have a good 3/8 of an inch all the way around. Not sure how that happened, but i guess i will have to deal with it somehow.

So then I'll just put some sheet metal screws in a couple of places to hold the quarter panel
in place while I work on the other parts.
Thanks guys for the advice.  ;D
