    O.K., I'm a Newb.  I just purchased a numbers matching BS23 71 Cuda a couple of months ago.  It went straight to CA after it rolled off the line in MI and spent its entire life there untill it was parked in a barn around 1989.  I am starting to go through the car to see what is there, what should be there, and what else I need to purchase.  Its a B5 383 8 3/4 rear slap stick auto car.  It has the ralley dash with all the guages, tach, and clock.  It has A/C and black leather interior.

    Even though all the factory steel is still there, it isn't totaly unmolested.  It has  "very", "very" little rust.  With no PB, someone dinged the front valance and a small part of the RF gilled fndr is rolled in a where it meets the grill.  The grill has 2 small cracks and scrapes.  Since I am a converted GM guy, I am learning a lot.  I have about 1/2 the build sheet the door sticker and fender tag are there.  Regarding the lack of the VIN tag on the dash, I was informed that Just Dashes took care of that one.

    Someone tore off the old vinyl top, filled in the trim molding holes and primer sealed the car.  I can still see the remnants of the old top around the rear window and drip rail trim.  Where do I find the color codes for the top?  Was this part of a “Package” and does the build sheet call it out?  Under close inspection (with out taking off the trim) it looks like it was a white top.  Which would look great against the blue.  Any thoughts? :droolingbounce:

    Now as for colors and such . . did it come with a fender tag??  That will show all the colors and options pretty much!  Can't wait to see it and good luck with your project!  Love them '71 cudas!   :worshippy

    Sounds like a fun car you have there!

    As far as the vinyl roof, Like 4Cruzin said, looky on the fender tag.  Here's what you might look for:

    V1* 69-71 Full Vinyl Top
    * Missing digit represents color choices
    A- Gunmetal
    B- Blue
    C- Black Alligator
    F - Green
    G - Black Gator Grain
    H - Green Floral (Mod Top 1969 Dart/Coronet Only)
    J - Walnut Pattern (1970 Only)
    J - Paisley (1971 Only)
    K - Walnut
    L - Champagne
    L - Parchment
    M - Burgundy
    P - Yellow Floral (Mod Top 1969 Barracuda Only)
    P - Mod Yellow (Mod Top 1970 Barracuda Only)
    Q - Blue and Green Floral (Mod Top 1969 Satellite Only)
    Q - Mod Blue (Mod Top 1970 Barracuda Only)
    T - Tan
    W - White
    X - Black
    Y - Gold and Green Floral (Mod Top 1969 Barracuda Only)
    Y - Gold
    Y - Tortoise Grain
    9 - Special Order (V19=Black on Superbird)

    Welcome to the site and the Cuda sounds like a great car. To bad about the dash VIN as I have heard just dashes is real good about not giving you your VIN tag back. Post some pictures when you get time so we can all check out the Cuda.

    Anyone know what the correct carpet is for the 71 Cuda?  Loop or Cut pile? Legendary interiors shows loop 70 - 74, and cut pile 72 - 72.  I have seen other ads where cut pile goes down to 70
