I'm the 7th (private) owner of Lucy + 4 dealers. She was purchased from a lady in Canada. The new owner was a private importer and shipped the car to NZ. When in New Zealand the Challenger went through 8 sets of hands until I got it. She was registered in Auckland, New Zealand, July the 7th 1971 with 1,000 miles on her at that stage. I have every previous owners name except the original lady owners.

I have spoken to the original importer ("2nd owner") and 3 of the previous owners. I know when she was painted white, who added the fugly rear wing, what her old 1/4 mile times are and who owned her at what time and place. A funny little quirk on the certificate of registration is it was registered as a 2800cc. Not sure if it's a typo or a way to get cheaper insurance and instead of the 440 code "U" there is a typo "0". Eg: "JS2300E" There's not much I don't know about Lucy.  :)

At best, the third owner of my '71, not counting a car lot.  The car was originally purchased in california, the woman I bought it from was given it by her dad.  He bought it used off a lot in 1978, I bought it from her with a malfing transmission in 1980.

I'm the 3rd.  I bought it from a guy in 2003 that never registered it.  Just let it sit in a barn.

He bought it from the original owner in 2001 who bought the car new on Aug. 31, 1971 from McKensie Motors in Manchester, NH.

1972 Dodge Challenger Rallye 340, AT, Code TB3=Super Blue, SBD=8/17/1971.  Yes, a Rallye without the fender louvers from the factory because of the body side molding option.

Mom bought in 72' with less than 20K miles becoming second owner. Then given to me as a grad present in 78.
So am I a second owner or a 3rd owner? DMV sees this as I am a second owner?

I still have all the original owners documents with my car. His name and warranty paperwork. Brake test specs etc. etc.

Car is on it's second and final restoration now thanks to a previous body man that did some poor work.

A little off topic....

Topcat, is your car a Challenger or a Barracuda?

The reason why I ask is that I think the "Brake Test Specs" paper is the Consumer Information Sheet (CIS).  My car is a '72 Challenger Rallye but on the CIS my car is listed as a Challenger R/T.  I was wondering if other Challenger Rallyes were listed as "Rallye" or R/T" on this sheet.  :dunno:  My car was an early Rallye (8/17/71) so I wonder if the later cars had "Rallye" on the CSI?

I got mine from the second owner. I also got a lot of the story about the owners and the car. The original owner kept almost everything in a log from DMV renewels, receipts, and work done on the car :wavingflag:

71 Gran Coupe.
Yeah, I think your right being a consumer information sheet. It's buried away safe in a fire box and I haven't looked at it in quite a while.

As far as I know 3rd owner. Bought in 76 so couldn't have been too many others.

I think Sleepy, and Topcat should be polled as second original owners since it has passed down through the family.  :thinkerg:

I'm guessing 3rd or 4th.  I bought it from a guy that had it only for about a year, was a flipper.  He bought it from a guy down in AK.  The guy that he bought it from he said was pretty old.  I think that he was the original owner.  I need to call the DMV and see if I can get his name, because the guy I bought it from never registered it, and I had the AK title.  I'd like to give him a call and ask some q's.   :swaying:
