Using hedman on my 360.  They are fairly cheap and do not hit any thing, BUT...they do have two drawbacks.

First off, they hang low under steering linkage, so I always have to lookout for anything in the road.  I had a set a few years ago that I bent on a friend's gravel driveway.

Secondly, it is very hard to get to the rear 2 spark plugs on the driver's side without taking the header off.

Other than that, they work great for my combination.

A related question. I have headers on our current 318.  Do I have to get different ones for the stroker 360/408 we are putting in?

The 318 is an LA small block and the 360 is a magnum if that matters.

Sorry for the hijack. :)

I've had heddmans, dynomaxx ceramic coated and ebay headers in my car. All about the same fit. Paint burns off or the coating discolors after awhile. I've yet to smack my headers on anything but a real nasty speedbump. Back plugs i've gotten down on changing, not a huge deal ther  :2cents:

I've been using Cheap-O Summit headers on nearly all my cars for years, except a few sets of Hooker SuperComps, and have nearly no problems.  Some need a few love taps with a hammer, but all in all, pretty good results.

I got a set of Hedmans that were designed to fit my stock '57 Chevy truck with a stock small block Chevy, and they were the worst fitting, leaky POS I've ever put on a car.  They required significant hammering, and I had to file the flange welds down a ridiculous amount just so they wouldn't blow out in a couple days.

I'd sooner eat broken glass than buy another set of Hedmans.   >:(

Ive got Hedman's on my big block. I haven't had the problems you speak of, but I understand we are talking about 2 different designs here.

My only advice is to go with ceramic coated headers, unless you live where it is cold, and you don't mind the heat. My first set was uncoated, and I would get a hot foot after an hour on the hiway.  :stomp:

I have bought many cheap sets of headers. I have yet to have a set of cheapies that did everything. I am of the opinion now that it is just better to wait until I can get a set of nice tti's or similar and be done with it.

While I agree with you, after what 4C recently experienced with the TTI's on his 440, I wonder.  :clueless:

I've got some FLOWTECH headers lined up right here in Tallahasse for $129.00 and tax. I belive they are owned by the same company as Holley carbs...anyway, my question is the power steering. I've seen these cheaper headers listed as fitting all ebodies and b too, but some say not power steering cars. I'm thinking they are just confused. Automatics on the column may be a problem, but not ps. Am I right on that?
