There are 2 K+N's in that picture..so 10 filters. Wait until you see the airbox I'm going to build for it!

Got more done on the stand today. I lowered the mounting point so it should be more stable. Hope to have the trans part finished tomorrow and maybe mount the engine to it. My idea is to set it up so that it is built to have the crossmember mount the trans in the back, make the engine level and weld it all up. Then put the 47RE on the engine and alter the (or build my own) crossmember to get the engine back to level. That way it "should" be pretty close to fitting in the car without any further mods. It will make more sense when I get some more parts added on tomorrow.

Finshed the major portions of the run in stand. You can see how I made the back of the stand so I can swap the trans out easily, hope that makes setting up the overdrive easier. I'm expecting I may have to pull the valve body out to get things really dialed in so I made it so that the pan and the trans can come out easy with the stock crossmember. Once I get the actual engine in there then I am going to make a "stand" for the back of the engine so that I can swap the trans out and not have to have a seperate (like a cherry picker) support for the engine. Also got the engine ready to go in the stand, primed the oiling system and turned it over by hand. If it doesn't rain too much I think I'll have it in the stand tomorrow. Would be cool to get the battery and solenoid mounted so that I can crank it over tomorrow, though it is nowhere near running it would be cool to hear it crank over.

Almost got there today, maybe I'll be able to crank it over tomorrow..it rolls really nice with swivel casters on both ends. Bonus (I wish I could claim I designed it this way) is that the legs for the cherry picker actually fit under the frame of the stand. Should make it easy to swap engines or whatever...

Hi Eric, good looking stand buddy :2thumbs: should make for a real good running in stand when the engine is ready for its fire-up :bigsmile:  But i have my doubts you will ever be able to rebuild that Yellow 440 buddy :dunno: ::) :lol2: :poopoke: :2thumbs:

Well good and bad news. Good news: The run in stand is coming along nicely, can crank the engine over. Oil pressure is good, lifter rotation is good, trans line pressure is good. I also was able to get in on a beta test for a trans controller for the 47RE.

Bad news: Went to start assembling the overdrive trans today and come to find out that the case is junk.

Oh well. I'm on the hunt for another trans core. At least the parts will all interchange so I can do subassemblies for now.

All the parts in the overdrive assembly were good, so just a clean up and new frictions/steels. Got lucky, the overdrive piston shim and the intermediate shaft spacer were right on the money so no last minute hunt down of weird parts. Also got the trans case thing sorted out tonight. Came out pretty well. Had some burn through, but nothing horrible. Was able to get it pretty nice, carbide > flap wheel > cartridge roll and then draw file it level. Just a lot of time, but better than getting another trans core. Trans controller showed up also. Will put that together next weekend.

Stopped by the body shop last week, things are moving along pretty well. He still thinks that the car will be painted by the end of the month (!) I'm doubting it, but you never know.....I sold my AAR hood, bought another one from AAR fiberglass. They said it should ship this week. Hope so, cause it's going to be holding things up soon. Some pics of the car from friday....

the trans is all together. found out that my converter bottoms out on the bolts that hold the bellhousing to the front of the pump. So more time on the mill I guess. All the clearances in the trans came out ok and it air checked good so I'll keep my fingers crossed. Still no hood. Said next week 3 weeks ago, 2 weeks ago and then told me it broke coming out of the mold monday (WTF told me he was waiting for boxes before). I haven't gone to see the car at the painter, no shock it isn't primed yet. So I'll just keep plugging along on stuff I have at home. The trans controller is coming together ok. The crank trigger stuff is coming together ok. The general shape of the Alternator bracket is close. Time to do some more welding tonight or soldering or whining - ok maybe all 3  :dunno:

Went and saw the car today. Things are still moving along. Still no hood yet. As far as I can tell it did not ship on Thursday. Wish the guy would give me the straight story so I could plan around it's arrival. The car is pretty close to primer. The hood is going to start holding things up soon. There is only a couple more spots for him to work on before priming. Also took some pics of other cool stuff he has in the shop. No I'm not putting flames on my car.....
Had to start over on the alternator bracket too (those pics in previous post). Once I figured out where the crank sensor would go, it ended up floating where there was no more bracket. OOPs! I'm going to have to redo the support bracket from the fuel pump mounting pad also to angle lower to support the "arm" where the adjuster slot will be since it's pretty narrow now. My buddy sounds like he will be done with machining the bellhousing maybe this weekend. Then I can put the overdrive trans on the stand with the engine. fingers crossed on that one.

looks good  :2thumbs: I was scanning through your pictures and came across that other car and thought WTF the body man got carried away with body filler and morphed it into a fat fendered hotrod  :roflsmiley:

Neat stuff too bad about the hood I hope its in good shap after all the time wating on it.  :-\
