Dropped the car off, everything sounds good so far. The painter estimated late february for completion. He doesn't have any other completes in front of me and doesn't do any collision work so I think I am good to go. Here is a pic of the car sitting in the shop. Also took some pics of a car my buddy is working on. Barely anything left of it so much was rotted away. Look at all the new metal. Makes my car look like it was in a ziplock for 38 years.

Wow - you guys have done really nice work on you car - can't wait to see the end result.

As well, I'm always amazed when vehicles are re-skinned to the extent that cuda was. That is either not an original anymore, or the original was not worth saving!! Incredible work though.

Some other info on the car my buddy is working on, before (as in years ago) it was brought to him, the car had the whole front clip replaced (as in cut off 1/2 way through the cowl forward), both rear frame rails and 2 quarter panels. It's almost silly how little of that car remains from the original. There is a maybe 2 foot section of the rear rail that is original.

Awesome to get to that point.

Hope to see it in person at a Spring Fling sometime down here. Or maybe on the track at a Spring Fling Speed Festival  :stirpot:

Or maybe at the Madera Mopar show.

I definitely plan on driving it to spring fling, not sure it will be together in time for may 09 but maybe the fall show. Then again, who knows? Would love to take it to the track, I've never autocrossed or road raced this car but I did setup the engine with a good oil pan this time. As far as my wheels are concerned, after looking at this guy's work and the cars he has in his shop, I feel pretty comfortable leaving the wheels on for now. The guy is going to fix the wheel lips on the quarters that I cut away in high school with a hacksaw.  :misbehaving:

I wanted to leave the wheels on so he can get the clearances right.

As far as the painter is concerned, I've been sleeping pretty well. I'll take it that is a good sign. I didn't sleep worth a  :poopoke: when the car was at the blaster. Which is lame since those guys were really good!

I'm off to work on my engine wiring, hope to post again later with some update news on the fuel injection front.

Had a few hours to start on a layout board for the engine harness and to make sure everything is going to work together. The EDIS secondary circuit is complete. I'm sure the board will be cluttered when it's finished. I have to make a plate to mount the spark plugs to (of course that will be metal) and attach the injector harness, but it is a start. Here's what I have so far. One of the guys at work has a lathe at home so he can turn down my crank pulley to fit the 36-1 trigger wheel. Hope to get that done this week..

After measuring yet again, turns out the escort trigger wheel I was going to use is smaller in diameter than the balancer which would make getting the crank sensor in the right spot a challenge(r). Luckily some companies make a universal 36-1 tooth trigger wheel in different sizes so I'll just order one. A little background. I want to get the engine running on a stand while the body is away so I can get all the bugs worked out of the FI and trans stuff before putting it in the car. Here is a gauge panel that I built that will be part of the stand. Most of the gauges will go in the car. The speedo is electronic since the 47RE uses a VSS instead of a cable. A narrow band O2 for each bank and a wide band O2 to get it in the ballpark. The fuel pressure gauge is an electric. Hoping to get the harness board to attach to the engine stand also. Hope to start on the run in stand thing next week.

When I talked to the painter last week he mentioned that he wants to use my car as a promo when he opens his new shop early next year. So maybe that means he'll do and extra good job on it.....

Stopped by the shop today, things are moving along. He asked me to bring in the side markers for the rear. I said "How many side markers do you want"?
