What if you smoothed out the cut out.  I think if you widen the cut out and transitioned the edges to the exisitng scoop, it may look ok.  You might not even notice that you cut any thing.

Ya that's what I meant too.

I don't want to make the cutout any bigger than it needs to be, the two layers of the hood (inner structure and the actual hood skin) are unsupported once cut. The edge that I cut away was very stiff structurally so once I confirm I've cut out enough, I'll need to epoxy those two pieces back together like they were before.

:thinkerg: What about fiberglassing an aluminum rod bent up in an arc to add back the support underneath?  :dunno:
Then adding some stainless mesh or perforated metal  powdercoated or painted black so it blends in some?

Got the air filter and MAF relocated so I can close the hood and the sensor has some support from below. I think I spent 8 hours getting this to fit in there. I must have been down to my last 50lbs of argon, I thought for sure I was going to run out. Since I moved the MAF and it's orientation to the airflow in the intake tube, I'll have to retune my fuel maps. At least my hokey taped on air filter is gone..

"usraptr" = United States raptor - bird of prey = United States Bald Eagle.  FYI, somebody else thought of it first so I had to drop the "O" in raptor.

Looks great!!!!

But it looks like a Challenger is trying to sneak in to the picture!  :roflsmiley:
1972 Dodge Challenger Rallye 340, AT, Code TB3=Super Blue, SBD=8/17/1971.  Yes, a Rallye without the fender louvers from the factory because of the body side molding option.

Actually made it to the Ohlone (Mopar Alley) show in Fremont! I have a couple of teething problems I need to sort out with the cooling system and the transmission. Was a long couple of weeks getting the car back together. I changed out all the suspension stuff (torsion bars, strut rods, steering box, pitman arm, leaf springs, welded on new spring pads, new shocks up front) and fixed a lot of little things that were bugging me along the way. So I drove it about 300 miles yesterday.  Also stopped by a shop to see about fixing some paint problems I have. I still need to get the car aligned and fix some other stuff prior to the show in Sacramento in a couple of weeks. It was nice to get out on the road for a while. I'll add in a more current pic shortly...
