'70 Challenger w/ 318 & a guy who knows little about restoring cars
« on: September 20, 2007 - 08:12:22 AM »
Hey everyone, I hope this site will help me out, cause I need all the help I can get.  I just bought this car & know nothing about restoring cars, but the '70 challenger is definately the best car in the world.  This project seems doable, the car has some rust, and the cowl & A pillars are going to be the biggest problem.  The body is clean except for holes along one side for moulding.  The engine is a 318 from a '71 Challenger w/ 3 speed AT & the interior is decent.  I'm not looking to restore it back to factory condition, I want to have fun with it & drive it a lot.
All of you have great looking cars.

Welcome!   This is a great place for brain picking, so if you have any question, don't hesitate to ask.  I would also have to agree with you about the 70 Challenger   :naughty:

CC,

Take a lot of pictures before you start taking it apart.  Start doing you homework now, read up on your car.  Buy some of the restoring books that are out there.  Some of the aren't to bad, but of course, don't be afraid to ask any questions.  C-C.com has some of the best E-body minds on the planet.

Hi,

Awesome.....now I don't feel alone!!  I know absolutly nothing about retoring cars either.  I just got a 73 Challenger to restore.

Welcome.  I look forward to watching your progress.

We like you already, Charlie!

Welcome to the site!

Lots of nice people here!  Just ask some questions, post some more pics, and give us some #s to play with (VIN, fendertag, ....)

Your dash looks like it's from a Road Runner or some other Mopar.... I've heard they fit and back in the day were a good alternative to finding an E-body dash.  Looks like your car may ba a base Challenger, VIN starting with "JH" I presume.
