PAINTING NEW STEEL HEADERS

I know this is a losing battle, but I do want to spray something on these new headers to keep them looking decent a little longer. They are already pained black but there  is already some rust and scratches. I was considering the VHT paint, but should I use their primer first or is that just a waste of funds? Any other paint suggestions? I have heard of others using barbeque grill paint that is much cheaper....

Eastwood or Por 15 high heat manifold paint would eb what i would use

I used the POR 15 manifold paint.  It says on the side its rated to 1400*

If the header isn't ceramic coated, it can get near that, believe it or not. Hard to believe any paint could take that, but I could be wrong.
