Thanks to your help (especially miketyler), I now know that the small 1/8" vacuum line that feeds the controls hooks to a vacuum nipple on the intake manifold. But what I didn't expect to see is the same vacuum line loosely hanging below the heater box inside the car. This means that the line must have either come loose from a connection or was cut somehow. Does anyone have a pic of the front side of the heater box (part that goes against the firewall) that shows this vacuum line? I'd like to see if I can connect the line without having to pull the heater box.
