HiBeam issues

so, i havent used the hibeams in my challenger for a while. BUT, this is do to the fact of: when i would flip them on they would be fine for about 10 minutes or so and then suddenly ALL of the headlights would go out! any ideas??

Do the headlights come back on?  If so, how long before they do?  Are you still getting power at the headlight fuse (assuming there is one...).  Is it just the headlights that go out or do the parking lights go out also?

I'd start with maybe high resistance at the ground side, or at the bulkhead connection. Do they come back on, on their own? There is a circuit breaker for them that may be tripping, then while they are off it cools down enough to make contact again. That i've seen.

ooooh, well this will be the first investigation. i really didnt kn ow where to start. i would usually semi-freak due to the fact that im driving a 30-40 something thousand missile through winding deer country with no lights, haha. so we'll see. id usually turn them off and them wait a minute and flip them on. theyd work then.

Hopefully some other guys can chime in on this.  I had a car before that the headlights were bad due to an accident that shorted out something.  This was when I was 17.  My solution: add some driving lights.  :roflsmiley:  Seriously.  Might be worth it if the headlights cut out again for back up until this all gets sorted out.  :dunno:

I thought the CB was in the Headlight switch?  A set of relays would take the high current out of the switch itself.

this si exactly why I do the headlight relay upgrade on cars especially E bodys because the headlight switch is not readily available , by using relays there is virtually no load on the headlight switch & the headlights will be brighter as well

Yep. I have some pretty sweet, very bright H4's on my car. Running relays.

My 72 cuda started doing that alot. This was after I put halogens in it. I ended up replacing the headlight switch. I guess it got old and worn out. The did come back on after a bit with the switch off. And only did it on brights

Had the problem on my original back in 1970.   Replaced the dimmer switch..............

i remember thinking a few years ago, before they were out, that it would be *****IN to have headlights like the BMW halos.

The foot switch on the floor, that switches from hi to low beam, is bad. These are still available at your local parts supplier. Had this on many of Mopars.
Cant kill the mean and ugly. Only the good die young...I plan to be here a while!!
