Just about done but....
« on: September 22, 2007 - 12:32:47 AM »
The aftermarket valves cvrs (MP) on the Hemi are up on the shock tower (pass side).K frame is big block not Hemi with Schumacher mounts, trans is a 727 pretty straight forward. Are the MP cvrs the problem, not enough clearance? It is so tight I cannot even take them off! I have a set of black crinkles I will use but do not want to mess them up I will send pic in AM, but what do I do?

I belive Indy Cyl Head is fabbing hemi VC's that solve the shock tower clearance, large cap dist and brake MC issues. I don't have a hemi to try them out on but I rember reading about these VC's recently

So it is not a problem with schumacher mounts?
VCs I can deal with. Liek I said I can't even get them off to swap out
Engine is not a crate but an MP block available before crates were made (1990's)

I can't say for sure. I looked at their website and they mention the VC's also clear the heater blower motor. It sounds like it would be worth it for you to give them a call and find out more about them. Here's the website link ---> http://www.indyheads.com/. Just click on the catalog link in the middle of the main page and go to page 23 to see the VC's. Their contact phone # is  317-862-3724 according to the site.

Just talked with a Mopar parts guy who builds Hemis he told me that the MP finned VCs are thicker and have always been a problem. He suggests another set. I have a set of Year One wrinkle origs. But I do not want to get them on ubtil we are all done banging etc. He also said I may hav eto make adjustment with a large pipe to dimple the shock tower. Can anyone add anything?

If you have the sandwich type mounts Schumacher once made a shim kit for these.  If raising the motor a 1/4"  would help you might want to contact them.

The guys at Schmacher are tops
I talked with Mike Schumacher (not the racer) and told him my problem. He sent out replacment mounts that are a little different then orig. They pull the engine away to clear. I highly recommend them, they back their product and care about what they are putting out there.
Now a question, he sent 2 mounts for both sides. I replaced problem side but drivers side is a real B#&ch. By having the engine off by about 3/8 inch what am I doing to harm the balance of engine trans etc. Is there any reason I need to do other? I Will probably do it anyway but its another 2 hours solo (with beers of course). Just thought I'd ask

Follow-up on replacing both mounts
M. Schumacher says as long as there is no issue with level engine (carb floats-fuel issue) I am fine
I was able to almost get it all doen last night, my buddy is  coming by tonight we should be able to knock it out quick
