I don't have a picture of either, but there is a sublime green 70 barracuda convertible factory that usually is at the show at Ohlone college with a slant six in it. There was also on ebay a 70 barracuda that was in need of full restoration that was factory panther pink with the small slant 6 not the 225 and I think 3 speed manual. I wanted to buy it and restore it back to original because of the high impact color and the rare small 6, but didn't have the 10k to buy it and it probably has a hemi in it now or in the process.

I had a '71 about 15years ago. It was a blast to drive. Green with a black rallye hood and mag wheels. The interior was green bench seat. The car ended up as an organ donor. RIP...

Were slant 6's available in 'Cuda (Nor a Barracuda) models in '70 and '71?  :clueless:  I remember a few years ago MCG had an srticle on one I think?  :dunno:

'Cudas came standard with the 383, I beleive. It wouldn't surprise me if you could special order a 'Cuda with a /6.

The 70 'Cuda had a 383 standard with the 340 being a no cost option if I remember right 340 was the smallest engine you could have in a 70 'CUda. 71 'Cuda had 383 standard with the 340 costing like 45 dollars more. 340 again was the smallest cubic inch engine you could order in a 'Cuda. In 72 and beyond you could get a 318 'Cuda but you could never order a /6 'Cuda.

In high school my buddy had a slant six challenger, he used to beat the crap out of it (rev it up and tranny-slam it and fry the one wheel for 20 ft) we used to laugh soooooo hard!  That thing could take all he dished out though, and it had some balls, he put a trans-go kit in it and it would bark 'em loud in second!

Those slants are strong muthers.

My first oval track car was a slant six. It wasn't fast down the straights, but it never slowed down for the corners either. It's second night out it blew. Nothing spectacular, just all the sudden it lost some of what little power it had. Once I pulled into the pits to check it out, a rod had snapped and windowed the block. You could see the crank reciprocating inside the case, but the dang thing was still running.

Does anyone know if there was ever a slant 6 convertible E-body?

Long time ago, a guy up the street from me had a 70 chally vert  with the leaning tower of power.  I believe it was factory, since this dude wasn't mechanically inclined, and mind you it was like 1979 or so.(car wasn't too old)

Actually just did some digging and found numbers for 70- 378 cars, 71- 83 cars.

...I don't but this one belongs to an old friend of mine....it's a convertible too....

he won't restore it, or sell it.....it used to sit outside in his back yard till about 2 years ago, I convinced him to put it out of sight....it hasn't been driven in 10 years or so....slowly rotting away...

Damn Daytona, you seem to live right in the middle of a Mopar scat pack nest of hornets! I wish I had cars scoped out like you do. I would probably wet myself right after I took possession of the limelight R/T vert you showed pics of earlier this year.

...New Castle Indiana is/was the home to the first Chrysler Plant (it was a Maxwell plant before that).....the first plant Walter P Chrysler purchased....so, since the beginning of time almost, this has been a MOPAR town, and still is...for a town of 15-17K people, there are still lots of rare E-Bodys, several winged cars, HEMI cars, Vipers, Prowlers etc etc....way more per capita than any town I know of.....they literally are everywhere.... and being an older dog, I have known most of the cars forever...the red Bcuda vert pictured above has been around town for decades and driven daily until the last 10 years or so....it was purchased for $4K by my friend and looked like new....the Lime R/T I purchased last summer is also a local car, around forever....I also turned it down for $4,500 many years ago.....finally found it stored in a garage last year and purchased it...the secret is lots of cars in the area, getting old, and having a good memory

there was a huge magazine article about our town in Muscle Car Review in April 89 I think.....pages of pictures etc etc....my friends Phil Kunz and Bill Holder shot and wrote the article....we got over 35 rare MOPARS for a group shot....sorry the pix are so poor, but they are old school film...

I currently own a /6 challenger ('70 - deputy model A93).  But the engine is long gone.  When I bought it, it was in a field, now it sits in a barn awaiting some time and money.  It will be converted over to a 340.  But it would be nice to have the original 198 engine, just think of the gas savings.

Thanks for the number Wang  :2thumbs:  I would not have guessed that many were produced.

Does anyone know if the body was any different on these cars.  I mean if someone found a rolling car and wanted a slant 6; besides the k-member, would it need any other parts or body work to fit properly?
