Keep you hand on it, be ready to go at any moment in time... :burnout:
lol That's what I do, but with a 38 year old manual 24:1 steering box it's quite a task with the other hand !

 :burnout:

p.s. I know you're right Chryco...you must get tired of hearing me whine about things you told me how to fix long ago.
I've never worked on a shifter before. I worry about the linkage and adjustments that i might screw up and not be able to get it back together..
Any links here to walk me through that? I have not found one.
Someday....you planning any trips to northern Calif. soon?

As for HooD, I hate to say it but it looks to me like the console itself is somehow twisted or out of wack.  If you pull it out and set it on a level surface, does the bottom sit flush along the whole length?  If not, then that could be the problem.  The lid looks flat, and I would think it would be real obvious if the lid was bent that much.  Just my  :2cents:

The lid seems to be straight, so the next step is to take the console out like you said.  But this will have to wait until next spring.  The cuda is in hibernation currently.  Thanks for the suggestions.

Man, if the console is twisted, I wish I had noticed it back in 1972, I would've made the dealership give me a new one!   :ylsuper:

Yep adjusting latch did it.  Sometimes we over look even the most obvious.

Good for you Blueglow. Mine had a rattle from the front area so I took it apart and used 1/4" adhesive foam between the top and bottom sections. Speaking of bottoms, I suspect my console door won't close right either do to a few female bottoms sitting on it. :misbehaving:
