casting number 2229171/ New question

I think I know the answer at least I hope I do. Was the original Master Cylinder on the 70 Challenger  casting number 2229171 made by Wagner? and who is corrctly rebuilding these puppies? correct bore size etc.

Can you just get any seal kit for that bore size?

Are they made by Wagner?

  If you do it yourself, pull it apart first and make sure that it is not pitted in the bore especially where the rear seal seats. If it is, either have it resleeved back to standard size or buy a new one.

     I used to get a stainless steel sleeve fitted and there is no more problems with pitting.

  Sometimes a light hone will remove the pits.

I just checked Advanced & they carry rebuild kits.    Remove the piston & see what condition the bore is in, if not pitted cleanup with croakus cloth or if lightly pitting you can use a brake cylinder hone & throw in a kit.

The picture I showed at the top of this post is what I thought to be an original M/C for a 70 Challenger but now I'm confused. I found this one below with these numbers

E9175 2 7 040B  I believe this ti be the date code info am I right to say the 40th day of 70

2229171   03490   3B Casting number etc.

But are they the  same M/C one thermometer front is an inny and on is an outer. Which is for the 70? and what is the other for ?

I've used this company before, they will sleave it if it needs it. They do power brake boosters, calipers and most any brake parts.
