Hi Everyone
Well all of the bolt able panels are filled and primed. I painted a model of the car to see what the new color will look like. I decided not to use either of the colors in the other picture, instead modified the darker one to a brighter redder shade. It may not show well in the picture but I like it.
Sorry no pictures of the doors or deck lid, I forgot to  :picture: before I stored them away.
Now on to the shell :faint:

Dave,
what kind of primer are you using to do your filler work after that first layer of epoxy. I used the epoxy on the cuda door and it took forever to cure/dry. so, i dont want to use it to do my filler work/ blocking.

Hi
After all of the panel is stripped of paint I use  one coat of DX-1791 etch primer then DPLF epoxy with DPLF 402 catalyst. That it is left to dry over night and then what ever body filler work that needs done. Then I use NCP-270. It is a rust resistant primer/surfacer.It is a high build product, two coats will be enough too fill. From there it go's to stick blocking.
I like this primer because it stick/blocks well and has very little shrinking.
What epoxy are you using? I like the DPLF-50 with DPLF 402 instead of  401.DPLF 401 is a softer catalyst for flexible parts.
If you are having a problem with adhesion with the epoxy try spraying DX1791 etch primer before the epoxy.
When the lead was removed from the epoxy it lost some of it's adhesion properties, using the etch primer first gets it back.

sweet, thanks man. who is the manufacturer of the primers you guys use? I cant quite remember mine off the top of my head ..... maybe Delstar? I need to check, the problem is that I just bought this stuff to do a quick blackout job on a '65 New Yorker I once had. I was just going for a ratrod look.

well, Now we're doing my fathers 74 Barracuda and it was the only primer i had at the house, but i dont like what i used on my car (at least for a first initial coat, it was great for filler work) - Western makes it, just an enamel.

So, now that Ive learned things on my car that I can keep perfecting as i build cars, Id like to learn as much and do it better each time. thanks!

Farmboy, you have amazing body work skills!! 

Quick question, I've only used the K-36 high build primer, but it seems like the new primer to use is the NCP-270 and that's what most people seem to recommend now.  I'm assuming you've used both, so just wondering how do you think they compare?

I like both products. I like the K-38 line a little better than the 36 though. K-36 seems to be a little softer and shrinks a little more.
The NCP-270 gets an edge over both of the K- line surfacers for me because it has less shrinking, builds faster is more corrosion resistant and block sands easier for me.
A lot depends on the amount of air flow and temperature each is used in though so one may work better than the other for some people.
My booth has pretty good air flow so the NCP works a little better for me.

Hi Everyone
Got a little done on the car recently, the weather was great yesterday to get the bulk of the sand blasting done.
It came out real well.
It looks like I'll have to replace the dutchman panel. It appears that it was replaced with a NOS panel at one time. I have no idea what they were thinking when they did it :screwy:
They cut it down the center and spot welded it , warping it beyond repair.
The trunk floor is pin holed alot so it is getting a full one piece.
The last two are factory welds that missed the mark. The driverside was (under battery box) bent and welded any way. The is no collision damage to the front so it must have been installed that way.

These parts are going to go to brighten up my car some! :bananasmi :2thumbs: :bananasmi.
 They are almost all NOS. There is also a lower valence molding that has no dents but need re-anodised

Wow. you're fast. I was just wondering, whats your sandblasting setup like? I'm thinking I might have to find a shop to blast my 74 318 cuda soon, but it might be hard to find one i trust. I have a small 40lb pressure tank I use at the house, I've used it for some things but it might be difficult to do the whole shell.
