What a great color combo on that Daytona!!!

Dave, the Challenger is looking great.  Can you share any sanding tips for getting the main body line crisp?  I know you're supposed to sand anyway from the body line and not over it, but what do you do for spots where you have to put filler on the line (for door dings, etc.)?

Thanks,
Travis

From what I was told that Daytona is one of three, that is a great color combo. I hope the owner sends pictures of it when he gets it assembled,
Anyway, from the previous pictures of my car , the body work was completed and primed. Now I block it with 150 grit and use Dura blocks to level the primer and find any low spots.
I was going to take pictures of this but didn't think anyone would be interested.
Level sanding holding the block flat to the surface will expose any and all high or low spots, any area you see in the pictures that show body filler were high and any place that was low would keep the unsanded primer look. So it is pretty easy to see how the panel is coming along when sanding.
If you break thru to the metal and the primer shows as unsanded beside it it needs more filler.
The next step after I refill any low areas will be to re prime and stick sand with 320,  some times depending on the amount of rework I may do this more than once, then re prime with the same primer(NCP-270) mixed as a sealer and wet sand with 600.
If anyone would like the step by step pictures let me know and I can post them.
Happy New Year!
Dave

Love the Daytona. I know a guy in Saint Louis that is the original owner of one and I got some pictures and shcked out some of the documentation he had this last October. Looks like you will have paint on your Challenger in no time.

Here are some pictures of the blocking. I started on the door as it was the worst panel on the car left to do.
The door had several dents and a big crease. The ruff in body work was done a month ago.
The first picture is the tools I use to block with at this point. It is a nice kit for doing flats and rounded contoured panels.
On the flat portion I like to block in the direction that people will be looking at, this will help sew in the filler work and find any remaining low spots.
If I break thru the primer I will keep sanding until hit metal, if there is still a low spot after that it needs more filler.
Try to not to over sand after metal is showing as all that is being done from that point is creating a wave in the panel. It is very important to learn how to "read" a panel to save refilling and doing it over and over.
At the rear of the door I hit metal in several areas around a low spot so I refilled it with a lite coat of Rage Extream, it looks like a lot in the picture but is actually very thin.
In the last picture I am sanding in the roll with the flat hard block, after using it to see if the shape is right  and the line is straight I went to a round tube block to sand it in.
I hope some of this helps.
Dave

Here are some more pictures of areas around the car that need a little more attention. All of them are done and the whole car is ready to be reprimed for a second blocking.
The container is blocking powder that helps with finding pinholes and low spots. You can also use a cheap spray paint to do the same thing I'm just not good with waiting for it to dry and it clogs up paper, but it works too.
