Georga newbie w/ 70 Cuda vert project
« on: October 01, 2007 - 02:10:57 PM »
I met 'Old School'  :cooldancing: at a cruise night in Powder Springs Ga. He referred me to the site & suggested I post a pic & said there's a lot of knowledge & helpful people to help me with any restoration questions.
This is my 1st Mopar and, as you can see, it needs a lot of work. It was hit in the front arround 1990 & has been in storage ever since. The fender tag shows it as a 340/3 spd with a Go wing, Vitamin C Orange. It has the original 340 engine.
This 'Cuda is also pictured on the Moparts site, when it lived in a field, here in Ga. 'Cars in yards' page 1, about halfway down the page.
Hope to start in Dec

Wow!  :wow:Cool car!

...... and a not so cool pile of windshield impacting evidence there ~ :icon16:

Is it a manual or power steering car? What style hood did it have?

Manual steering with a dual scoop sport hood.
What's interesting is that the build date of the car is Jan 08, 1970 & the engine build date is Jan 27, 1970. The vin is on the block.
Prod figures (for the US) show that only 23 "Cuda convertibles were painted Vitamin C Orange, 19 had the 340/3spd drivetrain & 13 had the spoiler option. Thanks to Barry & Diego for helping me decode everything.

It sounds like the real deal. As far as the SPD and the engine build date, that's a pretty wide gap but it's possible, sometimes production delays caused cars to be built after thier scheduled date (or before). Very cool car!

When I found this I was looking for a project to do a Pro Tour car with PS, a/c & automatic . Since it has the orig eng I'm more inclined to put it back original :dunno:. I have a bad left leg & foot which makes shifting gears difficult. Can I put an auto trans in without modifying the trans tunnel?
Build to drive & enjoy, build correct to sell down the road or trade it for a done car...it's a dilema :clueless:
