man,that thing is a dinosaur,i wouldn't have it if it was given to me.if you have to have a tig try an ESAB 140 amp caddy or similar.these are awesome.not much bigger than a lunchbox and very light.switch polarity to DC and you have the best arc welder you can get considering its size.i could ramble on for ages about the pro's and cons of mig and tig welders but i cant be bothered with all the typing.personally i use a mig,i would like to have a tig but the cost of the gas and bottle rental over here is insane.
BTW ive been using these things for 25 years,first welder i learnt to use was a tig.and im coded (x-ray tested) for mig-tig stainless steel and mig structural steel
