This is what you expect to see when you've got a hardtop.

This one (though not a Rallye set) has some sort of domed button or light in the lower right socket. What is it? :clueless:

I've never owned an E-Body before, so I'm not quite sure.

It can also be for the rear defroster unit.

On a hardtop that is where the rear window defroster switch goes. I had that in my 71 cuda. On the standard gauges that funny dome is the delete plate if you will for cars that aren't a convertible or have the defroster. It was cheaper to make one panel and place a block off then create a second panel.

Mine had the four, its funny. The first thing i did to my car at 14, i threw away the rear defroster unit, and put in new speakers.

I personally hate ralley gauges, i cannot stand the fake wood, and that clock. I sold my whole ralley gauge set, and 4 swicth panel for 550.00 plus shipping on ebay. I had paid 1100.00 for the car, and got half of it back to get rid of something i didnt like about it.

That was a smart move.

Yeah, I dislike the woodgrain as well. I'm attempting to replace all the woodgrain in the car with carbon fiber or brushed black aluminum plates.

Got the carbon pistol grip already. :)

I have to admit I really like some of the black finished bezels on rallye dashes I've seen here.  Given a choice of the rallye gauge set or the standard one (which my car came with) I'd take the rallyes every time.

I'm not really certain if I'll convert the bezel, or all woodgrain in the car, to textured black, but its worth considering.  Three switches though; no defroster.
