Cuda tail panel paint ?
« on: October 04, 2007 - 08:50:56 AM »
Does anyone have any info on the correct paint ie, shade, texture etc, to use on the tail panel of a '72 Cuda.  I've seen many different things out there at the shows and just looking to get it right. Thanks for the input!   - 72Cudaguy

I bought the correct Organosol black in PPG for my 70 Cuda tail panel. The number I have is in Concept and is DCC 9355. The mixing ratio is 6 parts DCC 2 parts DT reducer and 1 part DCX 61 hardner. This is very durable but remember to wear your respirator as this stuff is some nasty smelling stuff that will make you sick without one.

That is the same number and mix instructions I got to.  And I had just got done pricing a half gallon mixture to finish painting my car for the m46 code blackout. it was 217.12 tax and all.  #dcc9355   and do not use any clear after you finish.

6 parts paint
2 parts reducer
1 part hardener
no clear
1/2 gallon  $217.12

We used the Totally Auto organisol and it turned out really nice--plus it is a lot easier than buying all the stuff you need to do it with the PPG auto paint and then having to clean the gun afterward.

PPG has a lacquer and Concept formula for the 9355 organisol paint. But the lacquer is the only one with the texture additive. The concept doe's not.

If you're after the correct look and texture, I would use the laquer formulas. Totally auto is close but IMO looks like crap.
