MBH, those pics are from the Harms website.  I've looked at them a lot lately.  He makes some beautiful stuff...you should check out the site.

I'm not sure I follow? Do you mean like the difference in, like say a Charger shifter and the Slap-stik or how they work?  ???

I thought they were all slapsticks.  In 70 it's a round brownish colored push-button ball...(affectionately called by my husband....  "the do-do ball").  In 71, it went to a T handle.

oh ok thank you Rev, i thaught that there was a diference, like 2 different kinds of shifters. i thaught that a slapstick was like a B&M ratchet or somthing.

I heard the 71-74 Slap-stiks are different, from a reptuable source? Hmmmmmm

To answer your question:

From Park push on button or with the tilt grip push down on the handles, pull back and select gear (as usual).
Once in 1st (drag's on) Simply slap/bash/push it forward and it WON'T go any further than 2nd, once in second the shifter will pop or spring back by itself and be ready for your next shift, slap/bash/push it again and it WON'T go any futher than Drive  ;D Hurst made a few models off the Sla-stik design.  ;)
It's a brillant piece of Mopar history, and on the video section they had/have hear the refer it as: "The Racing Shifter!!"  8)

Thanks NZ,  that is what i was wondering, most of the automatic floor shifts that i have driven, unles changed from stock, if you hammer the shifter from 1st it will go all the way up to Neutral so you dont just hit them you have to finesse them into the next gear ::). then again they were all GM's also   lol

Yeah, I only found out a month ago. I knew they weren't your everyday shifter, but they are awesome. Can't wait to try it out with my "secret" transmission parts!  8)
I saw a 8 or 9 second drag car, and it still had the original 727 (worked) and the original Slap-stik shifter!! That's gota be good  :D
There surpose to be a solid shifter that shifts hard and well......... 8)

That with a tilt grip's gota be better than a B&M Shifter that any old chiv or phord has as well, one things for sure they can't have our set-up!  ;D

Pontiac had different types of dual gates where you
have to push the shifter to the right as you push it
foward.

Down right lame compared to the slapstik

Yeah, they fit the B&M and Hurst straight swap. They look OK  :-\ But your right my friend, LAME compared to Mopar's Slap-Stik setup.

Man, have we got good trans or what! Pistol Grip 4-speed and the Heavy Duty Torqueflite 727!!  8)

I love 'em MOPARS!!!!!  ;D

For those of you who are interested in the Tilt Pistol-Grip shifter.......
I just got a replied email from HAMRS (Scott) good bloke, I asked if I could have anything I wanted in the Bezel on top of the shifter.
He said sure, just draw a copy and send it to us and you can have anything you want in any clour or "solid" ivory, chrome (looking) etc

So he's going to send me a template to draw on and send back to be made, I'm going to get an "R/T" on top in Red, but I'm not sure onf the background colour yet  ;D

Any ideas? Black's the obvious choice, since my car has Blue interior what about blue background or white for the exterior?
