Rim Blow steering wheel
« on: October 08, 2007 - 06:02:17 PM »
Eh  CC. I"m doing some research on the Rim Blow steering wheel and how it works? I know about the steering wheel switch that follows the inner contour of the wheel but what's the purpose of that?? It's only when you press the center horn cap when the horn will work correct? I would like to exchange my woodgrain black padded steering wheel for the Rim Blow three spoke wheel but I'm not exactly clear on what I need to do? This is what I basically have 1 rim blow steering wheel core and a rim blow horn cap but just the inner vinyl and the outer polished plastic chrome no inner steel backing? here are some pics of what I have ANY INFO GREATLY APPRECIATED !! THANKS

The rim-blow steering wheel horn works when you squeeze the steering wheel. The center cap on it is just a decoration. The rim-blow horn switch often dries out, that's why most rim-blow steering wheels for sale don't have it. At least you have the rim-blow steering wheel, so you are ahead of the game.

Who sells the insert for the rimblow? I have the steering wheel and it is badly in need of a new horn insert. Does it come with the leads? How much, does anybody know?

  Thanks in advance,   David

I was told that Ford also offered rimblow wheels and that their switch interchanged with mopars.  Never tried it, I was fortunate to buy extras from the dealer many years ago where they still sit in boxes on the shelf.

Ask him if he wants to sell it, or maybe we could restore it and put it in your car. ;)
