We went throught the same search a few months ago.  The clips on the Mopar Performance website are the hairpin style (loops upright) which look good but aren't original. The original clips lay flat parallel to the hood surface.  The Mopar resto places sell a Cuda version and a Challenger version--the difference being the length of the cable.

I'm sorry. I clicked on your link and waited for 10 minutes here and got no picture.  :pullinghair: The only difference between Cuda and Challenger hood pins are the length of the wire. I bought mine from Year One. The Challenger's is 18" in legnth, the Cuda's is longer, like 20, or 23" in legnth.

I got mine from Dale's Cuda Shop, I'm pretty sure they make them for most of the vendors but they're real nice.

I'm looking for a set of hoodpins too and want them to be as original as possible for my 70s Challenger.
Aside from what is original and what's not - which hoodpins do you guys consider the best looking??
Do they also come in chrome? Because i think that would be a better match for my chrome trim and grille.

And where should i order them? Ebay doesn't seem to help here.

If anybody who owns a set of these could post some pics, that would be sweet - thanks.

Thanks guys! These year one pins look great and i assume they come with the correct (short) cables for the Challenger, as opposed to the 'Cudas longer cables. Right?

Do they also come with a plan for the correct original position of the pins? How did you guys know where exactly to place them?

Edit: On the year one website they offer the hoodpin-kits for steel hoods with 18", 23" or 25" cables. So which ones are correct now: 18" or 23"?

yes you have to watch the length.  If you look at your hood on the underside you should see where they be.  I am thinking they came with templates.  It has been a few years since I did my last Challenger.

70 Challengers were 18" in length. Your inner fenders already have holes for the shafts. The hood also has provisions for you to drill out a hole.

Did a bit of research online to see what pins i can get here in Europe and Jesus - now i'm even more confused than before.

Most US-car-parts dealers here only have the kits from MR.GASKET on stock. Now who the **** is Mr.Gasket? Saw a picture of his pin-set and the pins look way too pointed on top - kinda like a bullet-style. Plus they don't come with 18" cables. Only something like 24".  :sly:

The companies that sell them ask around 30,- USD for a set of these. If they would import the 18" Year One pins on special request, it would cost me almost 200,- USD (plus shipping)  :screwy:

What i also found is that Mopar sells two different kits here: http://chucker54.stores.yahoo.net/mophoodpinca.html - a regular "hood pin and cable kit" for $ 29.95 and a "Factory style hood pin kit" for $ 63,-. Now from the pictures it looks like the factiry style kit has TWO hoodplates for each sides (4 total), which i don't really understand what they are for. From what i read, both of these kits only come with 23" cables. And it seems that the pins in the factory kit are not so pointed as the ones from the "regular kit". The regular kit pins look more like the one from Mr. Gasket.

It seems like Year One is the only manufacturer that offers correct shaped pins with 18" cables.

And finally, there seems to be a slightly different Mopar kit at http://www.bpemopar.com/BODY_WHEELS.htm. It has the more flat pin-tips of the Mopar factory style kit, but only two hood plates. Damn - this search for nice pins can really get confusing. :bricks1: :clueless:

Hope someone can bring some light into this...
