some steering questions
« on: October 10, 2007 - 10:10:28 PM »
I am finishing things up on my Hemi Cuda clone and got under it to tighten/torque everything down. I noticed that on the pass side where the center link ties into (forgot name) is tight with a cotter pin but it spins freely (see pictures) is this ok? Also nut is much higher on thread so it does not really lock nut, I know pin will do it but am I ok here?
Thx
Smitty

Why risk breaking a linkage and going off road and killing your car or yourself. Those parts are cheap... just replace them IMO. :2cents:

the bolt your finger is on is a through bolt , pull the cotter pin & hold the  top of the  bolt with a wrench & tighten it up , I would also put a washer under the nut where the cotter pin is higher than the nut on the other end of the idler arm

I agree about replacing parst I just want to get to one carshow before season ends here in Jersey. It is on the docket for winter plans. Just wanted to make sure the pin can float (through bolt)
