Race Gas
« on: October 11, 2007 - 08:02:27 PM »
Well since here locally all we have is crappy 91 octane i gotta buy some real gas every once in a while (50/50 mix) im just wondering what the going rate around the country is.  Today 110 was 6.00 and 112 was 7.00.

Up till last year I was buying it by the 55 gallon drum for my GTO. It averaged out to 4.75-5.25 depending on when I got it.

Unless your engine is setup(timing, compression)  to run that high an octane or have detonation with 93 octane you are wasting your money.

If I buy from the local distributor, $5.25 a gal for 105 octane. At the track it is $6.25 a gallon.

ya know, there are these additives out there, primarily for alcohol racers but you can use them with gas too, that change the smell of your exhaust. Grape, orange, cotton candy, you name it they probably have it.

There's a gas station on Gratiot by me that sells it, but I don't know how much they charge.
