Cuda Amber Fog Lights?
« on: October 12, 2007 - 09:28:01 PM »
I've been to some car shows in the past and have noticed on occasions 70 and 71 Cuda's with Amber fog lights. I'm sure some of you have seen them at shows too. I have 1 original stashed away still.

So I thought that they might be some mysterious option that I didn't know about. But then it hit me that early Mustangs had them too. So whats the deal? Someone took the Ambers from Fords and switched em? Or are they really an option on Cuda's?

You think it could've been aftermarket?  :dunno:
1972 Dodge Challenger Rallye 340, AT, Code TB3=Super Blue, SBD=8/17/1971.  Yes, a Rallye without the fender louvers from the factory because of the body side molding option.

Glad you brought this up, I'd like an answer too. Last week a guy said that I should switch to amber foglights, "it'll really set ypur car off". I really had no comeback for him.

Don't know if it true but I read some where the ambers were used for drag racing to not blind people on the return lane. I know it sounds stupid but thats what I read. :dunno:

This is a great question. I've always wondered about it too, but never thought to ask.

Personally, I find the amber lights ugly.  Guess it's all a matter of personal preference though.

The one I have has identical lines and the word FOG on the bottom. Exactly like the clear one but tinted.

:iagree:  A lot of the old drag cars have yellow or blue tinted headlights so they would not blind or distract the oncoming racers when driving down the return road.

Over on Moparts there was a thread about this long ago. A very knowledgable E -body expert said that in 1970 there were some that came with amber lights early on, then the factories switched to clear. Mine is an early build and all original.

Personally, I like the amber better.  They make the front-end look more symmetrical.

Plus they stand out better than the clear ones.  :2thumbs:
