B5 Blue or Viper Blue - PAINT SAMPLE PICS ADDED OCT 20!!!

  I know what you mean 2000gt, my '70 is going to the paint shop in two weeks and I've been struggling with the right blue.  I thought I wanted the B3 blue, but some pics make it look really bad like a powder or baby blue, while other pics look great.  I've about decided to go the safe route and choose the B5 instead.  The pics in this thread are helping.

In the car there was some Chysler touch up paint with the Viper blue number. I've used it and it matches, but I'm not 100% sure. Compair pics.

I think you did, I have a lot of pictures of the car from Canada. About the paint I'm planning on taking the car in and have all the flaws and chips fixed on the car. I also have a 5 spd. waiting to be put in, and going to change the wheels to 18x8.5 fronts and 18x9.5 rears.

OK, so I went out today amnd did some experimenting.  Took a fender that I am not using and painted some different paint samples on it.  No bodywork was done, the base clear was sprayed right over the light blue DP primer.  The fender is pretty rough but is gives you an idea about the colours.  All the paint was PPG.  Starting from the front of the car the colours in order are 1970 B5, 1971 B5, 1996 Dodge Brilliant Blue Pearl, 1996 Viper blue.  I couldn't believe the difference between the two B5's.  To be honest the 70 B5 looks really bad and nothing like some of the cars I've seen in this thread.  I'm leaning towards the Viper blue.  Anyway, take a look.  Tyler

Here's a few closeups, the difference between the 70 and 71 colours is much more apparent in real life!  By the way, Srobinson4, that might be the best looking Chally I've ever seen!  Any plans to sell it?

If I recall correctly, 1969, 1970,  and 1971 B5 were all the same color - EB5  (E meaning it was originally formulated in 1969). 

For example FC7 is Plum Crazy -  formulated in 1970. 
GA4 - is Gunmetal Gray - formulated in 1971. 

Well, you get the picture.

BTW - Here's my EB3 Ice Blue Metallic T/A Pro-Street
