Yeah, these thoughts cross my mind sometimes too. I figure there's really no point in worrying about it though. It's beyond our control. All we can do is enjoy our cars while we can. I guess if it ever does get to the point where we can't get gas, and all cars are electric, somebody will make a kit to change our cars over to electric.

Just convert them to run on alcohol, requires more maintainance but at least we can still drive our cars when the oil runs out, if it runs out.

It will never be the gas itself but the owners who kill it off. For some paying big $$$ for gas is reason enough to sell. To others (diehards) and extra $5-10+ to fill it up isn't worth selling. I never worry about gas prices, I don't even check the pump or prices. I need it, can't drive without it, it's mandatory. Start her up, that's why we pay.  :smokin:

I'm with NZ here. I got my car to drive , and enjoy it everytime I go out in it.  I even mash the gas pedal down to the floor the same as 50 cents a gallon.

In a single word... no, it won't kill the hobby. It may change it some for the average guy, but it won't kill it.

Europeans have been paying outragous gas prices for decades, yet they still drive and still collect cars. There is always methanol and ethanol and blends. We've come up with synthetic oils, so synthetic fuels are a distinct possibility too.

The wonderful thing about a commodity like oil is that no one is really sure how much there is. They can speculate, they can send ultrasounds into the ground. We may run out in 5 years, it may last 500. No ones knows for sure.

Looks great!  What are the wheel combo / specs?

People who can afford this "hobby" won't care about gas prices.

Have you noticed that while the price of crude oil is at an all time high that the pump price for gasoline is not... I saw $2.69 regular this weekend.

I don't see it having a big impact.  How many people out there own a muscle car and a full size pickup?  For the most part they get similar gas mileage, but that's not going to kill off the P/U market.  It just means you might drive a little less.  I probably gas up my Chally about once a month, so that might work out to an extra $100-$150 a year.  That's not enough to force me to get rid of it.
