What's your Insurance coverage worth??
« on: October 17, 2007 - 02:00:32 PM »
Maybe this topic has been covered.. but I haven't seen it. I bring this up because my Cuda coverage is approx $20k. Now after the beast is painted JET BLACK!!  :woo:  :aarg: I need to up my coverage.

I was thinking 40k or maybe even higher. Watcha ya'll have?? And how much of a 10k swing change in the premium? I just know I cannot replace my cuda for 20k or even 30k.

My Cuda clone is insured for $35K
Approx $250-300 per yr

And yes I have to up it (even my wife- who hates cars says it should be up'd)
Now that I have a Hemi in it, I was wondering too what to insure it for and how much it would cost

I have the RR insured through Hagerty's for $35K. It runs $295.00 per year. I would look at it like I was getting ready to buy a car right now on the market. "What would you pay for a car just like yours if you had to buy it right now?" Don't use BJ as a reference, they're way too out there. Use the most common methods like ebay, local trader mags, etc.
When I set mine up, I specified a price but the Hagerty rep. said it goes through their appraisal system and will get adjusted if it's too far off. It's a pretty big window. In other words, don't try to value a 25-35K car at 100K. They will think you're setting up a "crash and collect" fraud.

$25k, $125/yr

Switched from Haggarty to American Collector, doubled the coverage for same cost.

when I finished putting mine together, I increased from 15K to 30K and the premium only went up about 50 dollars.

I know I've said this before... The first thing to do is get a certified appraisal. I think my last one was about $80  :woohoo:  Small price to pay for a nice Chally or Cuda. Then your NEVER in the he said/she said game down the line.  I just paid $635 for a year ...granted I had a little higher appraisal when I had it done. Granted the market has cooled some. BUT if something happens I'm in the $$$$$$$$$$

After thought... I have no restrictions on milage/use ect.   I                                                                                                                                                         Like I'm gonna take the snow chains and take NIKKI for a romp in a blizzard!     :roflsmiley:

My insurance would of been less $$$ if my car was not "modified".  The insurance co. had no definition of "modified" but I didn't want to take any chances.

I use Grundy.  Right now I believe I have it for $20K, paying about $300 for the year.  I have $100 deductible on Comp and Collision.  They have an "Agreed upon value", which basically means you tell them what you think it's worth and that's the price.  You need to send in pictures so you can't go way overboard on the price, but they don't seem to care within reason.  You can actually insure any car, no year restrictions, as long as you provide proof that it is not your everyday transportation.  Also no day or mileage restrictions, you just can't use it for day to day stuff (WalMart, groceries, etc).  I have my 73 Challenger and 85 Corvette, paying about $450 for both.

I have mine with American Collectors Insurance company. I have no deductible with the 71 Challenger RT insured for $36,500 and my 70 340 Cuda insured for $40,000. The premium is $505.00 a year and this was the cheapest I could find when I was looking for a different insurance company for my Mopar's.

22k for my 318 car. $250 a year.

Mike, do you insure it or do you have it (gulp) through your parents?  I cant get mine insured under a "collectors policy" because I havent had my liscense for 10 years.  What effect that has I dont know.  I've only had it for half of that.  My car has to be under regular insurance.  A bunch of BS if you ask me.  What is a young guy like me to do?   :stomp:

I have American Collectors and just renewed this month. I up the coverage on my Challenger from $ 60,000.00 to $100,000.00 and my GTX from $ 30,000.00 to $ 40,000.00. So I have  $140,000.00 of coverage and it cost me $ 903.00 for the year. May be a bit high but that is what it would cost to replace them in today's market.
