Well some people have tags remade by galen govier cause they are so rusty you cant reard them right anymore i dont see a problem with that cause your trying to documnet the car for others to view.

If you have a repop fender tag, which is obviously repop, then one needs to advertise that they have the old one still and/or a build sheet.

Especially given the discussion elsewhere on removing fender tags or VIN tags, if I had to remove one and have it replaced I'd keep the old oldcast in lucite so it wouldn't deterioriate any further and could be used as proof.

Who gives a rat's ass!! It's his car!  I've got my original fender tag and VIN tag in an envelope right here by the computer just like the PO gave it to me when I bought it.  He lost it for over two years, when he took it off because he was afraid some one would steal it while it was in for a lengthy repair. He forgot where he put it, and his wife found it one day.  My tags will go back on my car when the restoration is complete.    If I want to have a repo fender tag made  for a rip-off price and preserve the original, then that's my business!! Not the Mopar Police's!!!!  I own a high $  72 BMW CSL, and I can order a new blank VIN plate for about $10 to have stamped with the CORRECT info to install on my car if I want to.  What makes Mopar so special in this area? Restoration is restoration!!!!!!!!!!!!  End of soapbox!  :bananasmi :bananasmi :bananasmi :bananasmi :bananasmi

For some strange reason, tags are being stolen off cars at shows. So, I'd think twice about leaving the original on there if I was showing the car around...

If you put some red threadlock on the screws, the guy will have a pretty hard time taking it off, or you can get a finer thread screw and put a bolt on the other side of the metal.

who does the best job at making a duplicate tag? I got mine stored away in a safe place and would llike a duplicate made for the car.
