Horns
« on: October 19, 2007 - 10:44:25 PM »
Somebody recently posted that both of their horns appear to have gone belly up.  Looks like mine have done the same.  I ran a test probe from the positive terminal of the battery to the horn terminals and got nada, zip, zilch on both of them.

Anybody have any horns real cheap?

Hey, Dave. I bid on a set on ebay.  Never occured to me that I should just check a pick-n-pull.  :dunno:

Before you completely bail on the horns, try a couple of things:
Clean off a good ground spot on the horn, like on the little ring on the edge, and connect a ground to the battery negative
Loosen the little adjusting screw a few turns
Now touch the horn terminal with 12v and see if you got something.

Thanks, FY1C. I've done all of that except cleaning a ground on the horn body.  I cleaned the mount, but I guess the are between the mount and the body could be corroded, althought it looks pretty tight. My adjusters are completely frozen, short of putting visegrips on them.

Thanks.  I'll play around with them this weekend and see what I can get out of them.

Ever try Break-free, they sell it at wallyworld in the gun dept. for cleaning firearms, best stuff i ever used. spray a little and let creep in, be patient may take a couple of applications.

that's a great idea. I was trying to figure out what I could put in these that wouldn't harm them.
