AAR Neon's hood finally painted!
« on: October 21, 2007 - 07:06:14 PM »
Yes, I finally got my hood painted! Yeah, it doesn't have the holes cut out like I planned (because my dad got it painted for me without me knowing...I was gonna work on the hood this winter), but I hope it will not be like that forever. Anyways, here's the pics...all comments are welcome, even the nasty, rude "that looks like ****" comments because they're inevitable :icon_lol:

BTW, the paint is DuPont Hot Hues "HotRod" black. It's more of a semi-gloss than a flat, but I still think it looks pretty good and it layed on very nicely! Now I have to get my spoiler re-painted to make it as smooth as the hood.

Looks very cool, I was going to use Satin Black Rustoleum under my car, but I think I'm going to use Hot Rod Black now.

Go for it, it's really great paint...single stage, a few coats really lays on thick, and it's durable! Great product to use on old muscle cars with the flat/semi-gloss black stuff!

For a Neon, it looks very good. Mopar should do something like this along these lines. Would probably sell more of them that way.

""all comments are welcome, even the nasty, rude "that looks like nuts" comments because they're inevitable""

Now, I dont know what "inevitable" means,  -

- But, to me, that hood looks like a brand new one, just waiting to be painted...  :clueless: :clueless:

It almost looks too smooth and plasticy like......Get off this site its a cuda/challenger site....quit stealing old school ideas for you car

with the price to buy/restore old muscle these days I guess the kids today gotta do what they have to do....
I actually like the fact that you must respect old muscle to try to do your car up like an old AAR ..

Not my taste for power but I would take your car if it came with a remote control   :poopoke:

Good Job car looks great!

Thanks guys, I'm glad you muscle car guys can have a lil appreciation for what I'm trying to do. My favorite Mopars are the Cudas and Challengers, but I like most of the 60's-70's Mopar muscle  :ylsuper: Now I just need to make the lil guy perform...still has the stock 132hp that it came with from the factory. SRT-4 engine/tranny swap is very possible, but I'd need to find a wrecked car, and those are hard to come by...there is a company called Hahn Racecraft that makes a full bolt-on turbo kit for my car, but it's a wallet-draining $4500!!!! Im not sure what I'm gonna do yet.

I think the hood turned out great!!!  I definitely agree with you that it needs some extra power now that it's carrying the "muscle car" theme, so maybe a pair of turbos could be your ticket?  I know I've enjoyed my little 9B's so far and already have my eyes on some bigger ones (16G's & larger SMIC's). :2thumbs:
