Anybody got 4 post garage pics?
« on: October 21, 2007 - 10:05:09 PM »
I've got the winter to design a detached garage that will accommodate a 4 post life (11' ceiling on one side at least).  If anybody has pics of theirs, especially the roof trusses, I would love to see them.   The garage will be 24x26 wide and can only have an 8 foot wall on one side.  The opposite wall can be taller.

12 foot would be nice but I don't see how that would be achievable for me.  Bylaws and aesthetics living in a residential area provide some restrictions.  If I lived on an acreage I would definitely go taller.  One of the car lift mfg's said I needed the car heights plus 10" which worked out to 10'4".  Of course extra height is nice if you want to work under it comfortably.

And lifting a SUV would require more height, but it also depends on how tall you are.I dont have to put mine up all the way to work comfortably, but i can.11' should work

Mine is only 10 ft, but it serves my purposes nicely.

Nice cars!  A plum crazy 70 Swinger is one of my top 3 favorites. It looks like you have adequate headroom under the car with the 10' ceiling. Thanks.

If you look at this link. http://www.cuda-challenger.com/cc/index.php?topic=32537.0
My garage has 10' ceiling but where the hoist is I used rafters instead of trusses to raise the cieling height so I could get a 2 post in. It would work the same for a 4 post.

Here is mine. Took the rafters out and raised the ceiling hight to 13'. Just made a box in the attic.

That's a pretty awesome sight.  I like the way he thinks.  I'll check with the bylaw guys about the allowable roof height. :smilielol:
I'm thinking they (and my wife) might have something to say about that.
