71 Cuda grille "correct" install
« on: October 22, 2007 - 04:26:49 PM »
Well, "apparently" the original clips etc for my grille are not correct. I bought the oem correct install kit.. and I have a question. There are eight (8) black plastic square thingy's.. i'm sure they are the base for the screws.. but I can only find like 5 areas where the can slide into a slotted area. Can someone dumb it down for me & tell me where & how those plastic squares are positioned for the 71 grille? Thanks all

When you say thingys you mean what (not kidding here)?
What exactly are you reassembling (clips for where specifically on teh grille: to body of car? grilles into base?). I wrote a story about 71 grilles and how to color key etc. I can probably get you through what you need if IO can understand it a little better

The 71 install kit came with all the screws for the bezels and like 8 screws with small flanges on them. it also came with 8 square plastic pieces which you screw the screws into. They have small metal retaining clips at the top. Look at the brackets on the bottomwhich the grille sits on. they have a cut slot in them.. from narrow to wide so these plastic pieces slide into.

Also underneath the header panel.. there are, i believe three of these slotted areas for these clips. My question is why do I have 8?? I do not see all the spots they go into. I guess I'm not sure where all the grill flanges bolt screw up. Mine was disa ssembled before and they put 1/2 of the wrong screws and these plastic pieces werre missing.

i found they are for the header panel.. I guess the other four are spares? How do you screw down the bottom of the grille>> 3 spots>> there are 5 holes I believe on the bottom.. just trying to do it correctly.
