It's hard to imagine that the plane has set undisturbed and undiscovered until now, some 60+ years later.

Cool find.

That is cool.  One of the guys at Fort Bragg told me a few months ago that every now and then they find some vehicle from just after WWII way back in the wilderness.  Apparently, after WWII there was a period when they were surplussing stuff and sometimes it would have cost more to get back in the woods and tow the whatever out than to just let it sit.

After the U.S. army had built the Alaska Highway, rather than move all that equipment back to the u.s., they found swamps or bogs as they call them in northern B.C. and drove them into them and sunk them. some stuff they just walked away from. As i was growing up on my grandfathers ranch, along the alaska Highway, we would sometimes find stuff.

Thats a pretty cool find.

When I was stationed in Germany back in 79' I was out on a hike in the woods with a couple of Army buddies and we found what I believe was a homemade shrine or worshipping spot that look undisturbed and was very old. Little statues that must of been sitting there from the 1940's.

Later on, we spoke to some German locals and asked how could something like this be out there so long and not be found. Their reply was that many people in their country are afraid to wander off in the woods leaving the trails because of the wild boar that roam in their country. They're huge over there and will attack if surprised. I walked into a 500 lber once over there. Scared the bgeezus out of me and I ran like hell.

So there can be a lot of unfound things like that over there. It wouldn't surprise me.

That's an awsome find!  Some collector will restore that and it'll be worth millions!  That is a true treasure because almost no Focke-Wulf 190's survived the war intact.  It looks like an early fighter-bomber version, probably an
FW-190 A4 or A5, the markings are circa 1942.  The yellow band around the fuselage with the German cross is the signature markings of JG54 (fighter squadron 54) which fought exclusively against the Russians on the Eastern front.  This fighter squadron scored 1000's of air victories against the Russians and is easily the highest scoring fighter squadron of all time!  Although most German aces gained fame flying the Messerschmitt ME-109, this plane could fly circles around any other allied plane in 1942.

And some just loved the BF109. Hartmann wouldn't trade his trusty Gustav for the 190. Of course at that time on the Eastern front one didn't need the advantages that the 190 held over the BF109 as all the good Russian pilots were long gone and actual competition was scarce. One didn't get 352 victories against stiff competition. The Western front was a totally different matter.

Wow!  That is truly a find!  I've only ever seen one FW-190 - there's a restored one sitting in Mesa, AZ at one of the air museums.  It's parked next to a ME-109 & the size difference is huge!  Both were parked across from a P-51 & Spitfire and it's awe inspiring to see all 4 at one time

I know where at least 2 war-birds are (P-40's), but they are at the bottom of a lake and I can't ever seem to hook up with one of my dive buddies to check them out.  I know the general location of one and the second one is lined up between the first and a fixed point of land (search pattern would cover about 4 square miles).

FW-190 was my favorite plane of the war. As far as I know, the 190 was pretty much the zenith of radial engine fighter design.

The D-9 variant was a bit longer, faster and more powerful I believe.

The German planes were just so menacing looking.

Also, it looked far from undisturbed. The video showed how some of the gauges had been removed from the interior. Still, it looked fairly intact.

Oh my! Apparently a German company is making near exact FW-190 replicas using the original dies and plans from the war.  :worshippy

They even say they had a fairly large cache of rear tail wheel assemblies left over from the war and they just used those instead of replicating them. I think I have an idea for what I want after my Cuda is finished. I guess if I can learn to drive stick for my Cuda, I can learn to fly for a Focke Wulf!
