Did this swap on my car all myself except weld the bracket (I don't weld).  I'm not really mechanically inclined. It is just really simple and you can get any question answered here as you go along. By simple I mean brainwise there are a few pains in the butt here and there as there is anytime working on cars.  I already had the transmission but I don't think the price is out of line. There is a list of parts needed in another part of this site. Just start adding up the cost from Passon or Brewers for "new stuff".  You should just do it it won't get any cheaper and after awhile the money won't be missed.
I may be schizophrenic,
but at least I have each other

I agree,  Just buy it now already.   The automatic guys all wish that they had a 4-speed but "settled" for their car the way it was. The guys that don't want a 4-speed dont know how do drive one.  The only time I "WANTED" an automatic was for bracket racking with my crossover timer releasing my tranny brake.

Nice looking tranny.  Is it just me or is the shifter on backwards?  :clueless:

Where can you get an 833OD from?  (Make, model, year).  I keep hearing that you can use them and would really like a 4 speed in my Cuda.  The  only difference is I may be able to get an 833  f(rom my brother-in-law) but will need everything else.  Are any parts interchangeable from an 833 to 833OD? ???

Good article:   http://www.slantsix.org/articles/4-speeds/ODA833fourspeed1.htm

Looks like 1975 thru 1987 for the OD.  Be careful when looking in trucks, some, I believe, used a top loader instead.

Why in the name of Odin would you want to drive in LA during rush hour ?

But I still would rather do it with a 4 speed.   :poopoke:

the 833 OD is in slant 6 & 318 Dodge trucks & vans into the late 80s
A lot of the parts will swap 833 to 833 OD but most are unique , all parts are available through Passon though
I never learned how to drive an automatic

Terry,
I don't know you real well, besides meeting you once and from this board, but I bet that you have never owned a 4-speed e-body.

I think everybody, when they first went to purchase their car, would have been happier if they saw a pistol-grip sticking out of the console. The ones that wanted the automatic are the ones that would say "I never learned to drive a stick".

Rob,I get just as much satisfaction out of driving a SWEET WORKING auto as I would a 4 speed car. Oh, and yes I do know how to drive a 4 speed.
