Welcome ,
Great score , , unfortunatly I have no idea how many Challs in that color were produced , the only #s released were the % of production giving an idea but no real # produced ,

First off welcome aboard to CCC.

Your only hope is Galen Govier, but be wary of his ways!!  ;)
As CP said know one know's exactly, the % numbers is as close as we can get and then there's always the, "How many still exist?" question which is even harder to answer  :)
That's why it's great with these e-bodys there ALL rare, some more than others  ;D

Type in DY3 Coloured Challenger on eBay and see how many you can find, I'm sure in one of those someone will say, "This is 1 out of ###" etc, then just email him to see how true he is and how he found out  ;)

Hope that helps, let us know how you get on.

Welcome to the board!  If you happen to have a pic of the car, I sure would love to see it.  I have a 70 R/T SE 383 that was originally DY3, but I've never seen it in it's original paint (except for the floor boards).

DY3 is that color so common in the early seventies. In 73 it was called Honey Gold. Y3 is the color and D represents the year it was introduced. Haven't seen any specific production numbers, just a few folks who throw out a percentage in the occasional magazine article. By the way welcome aboard. Nice RT/SE. Any pics yet?

Welcome aboard and you found a bargin it sounds. My understanding is there are no actual records of color production, I'm not even sure how they come up with the % figures you come across that being the case?
Oh yeh, you are "mandated" to post pics as a new site member, lol.

First off WELCOME this is a great bunch of MOPAR guy's and girl's.
Here is what I know. There were 13,668  70 R/T's built.
Of that 8,939 were 383 4-bbl cars-----355 were 3-speed----2570 were 4-speed and 6014 were  automatics. you didn't say what yours was?? Now the good part ..out of the 13,668 built 0.7% were painted DY3. Yes that is a very low number. Now if you take the 13,668 r/t's built and times it by 0.7% painted DY3 you get 95.5 cars. You can get a little closer by taking the number of 383 cars 8,939 times 0.7% and you get 62.5 cars. and so on by adding in transmissions but of course this is not totally correct because the percentage is taken from the total production of R/T's. But it should give you a ball park figure of how rare this color is. This info was taken from Galen's production and accessories book. Well good luck on a great find and post some photo's>>>>

Well, according to your calculations we are 2 out of the 42 with this set up.  I have an auto also.  Pretty cool.  So do you have a pic?
