Glad ya's are having a great time. The Grand Canyon has long been on my personal list of places to visit. Being there in person just has to put things in perspective.

The Grand Canyon is the one place that I've ever been that **literally** took my breath away.  Pictures and videos don't even begin to do it justice.

Hey, Urgewalt, how long are you going to be in San Diego?

On your way to San Francisco, if you take route 1, you may want to stop and check out Carmel, Pebble Beach, the Monterey Bay Aquarium and the view of Half Moon Bay.
Enjoy the smell from the eucalyptus trees along the way.

Enjoy your tour of the States! :2thumbs:

Hi Alex,
Looking at your schedule, today you're driving towards San Diego - I assume you will drive South on Insterstate 15.  Wave as you cross over Highway 91 in Riverside County, I work a couple of blocks from there!

Hi Alex, when you leave San Diego and travel to LA, please avoid going to Hollywood, it is dirty and an embarrassment to all of us in LA. I would recomend seeing Universal City just north of Hollywood on HWY 101, you will have a great time on the Universal Studios tour and you will enjoy the Universal City Walk (great place for tourists, good food!).  Also if you like art/history/culture then seeing the Getty Museum in Malibu and the the Skirball Culture Center in west LA are a must-see!  Also, when leaving LA, use HWY 101 north to Santa Barbara and all the way to San Luis Obisbo where you can take famous HWY 1 for a spectacular drive up the coast to Hearst Castle at San Simeon (another must-see), then north through the ancient Redwoods of Big Sur, continue north to Carmel and Monterey (see the Aquarium there), and continue towards San Fransisco.  This will give you the most memorable and beautiful road trip that California can offer!

Ditto on this........

Must see Santa Barbara (UCSB parties rock) and definately see the Redwoods (As breath-taking as the Grand Canyon, I swear)

I feel your pain with the lady shopping for shoes. Every couple of years I make mine get rid of shoes. One year we tossed about 20 pair and she still had plenty 'O' shoes.

I think in a few years we will try to go to Germany. There are US military installations we can stay at (Eidelweissen?) so the cost is cut down. My grandparents came from Bravaria (Last name Wolf or Wolfe) and my mother speaks German. I have always felt the desire to see the "Motherland". I would love to see the Black Forest, Nurhburg, .....!Octoberfest!
I need to get hooked up with Rosetta-Stone language books.

I think the excitement would be much the same as Urgewalt's.
