new here, old dodge guy
« on: October 26, 2007 - 04:37:46 PM »
Hello all
this site looks great, great info and looks like a great crowd.
i am an old dodge man , but i have been out of new projects for a while now so its time to get started on my first love.
little history on the old car in the garage, it was bought in 78 from the original owner, special order order Ralleye 340 with out the side vents. any way in '82 the car was hit hard in the front, so i got a front clip from a SE and put it back together, well almost finished. it got stuck and the garage and made a great storage bench for the next 25 years. well this year me and the boy are getting it going again, should be fun. and beats driving the family van. have most of the original parts, still looking for a few items.

Good to know I'm not the only newbie.  Now if I could only figure out how to post a picture the right way.

Just click on "additional options"  when you reply to a thread and then browse on your computer for the pic

Wecome aboard 733404,

I'm glad to hear another Challenger will be on the road soon.  :jumping:

What I really like about your car is that the tail panel is painted correctly. Chrysler did such a bad job of never showing how the back end of the 72, 73 and 74 Rallye Challengers looked in any of their color sales brochures. As a result, I think, few restorations are done correctly. Most of the ones I have seen are painted the body color or some variation. The factory color however for the tail panel was organasol black with the sockets painted textured argent silver.

Whenever I see a restored Rallye Challenger painted correctly after the restoration, at the Nats, Carlisle or at a local car shows, I make it a point to thank them for the fine job they have done and their eye for detail.

Keep us posted on the restoration.
