battery cable ????????????
« on: October 29, 2007 - 08:52:11 AM »
I have been watching for pos battery cable for my '73 340  & see different year & engine fitment recommendations.
This cable us advertised as NOS 71-up big block b, e-body. Would this be correct for or work on my small block?

The one currently sold from the dealer fits the 70 Challenger with the small block perfectly. It looks similar to your picture. Here are the part numbers for both pos. & neg. 02983778,,,02983649

I have the POS cable on my cuda, and it fits fine.  I would not hesitate to get the Neg cable

I am told they are not 100% correct, but i coudl not tell you what the differnece is.  For $30 or so a cable, they are a heck of a lot more reasonable than the concourse correct ones I have sen advertised.

As far as the lugs connecting to the starter and starter relay, all battery cables will be the same. No problem there. I think the only differences were the total length of the cables. The BIG question is... Is the small-block battery cable longer or shorter than the big-block cable?   :dunno: If shorter, that's no problem, but if longer...   :stomp:

I figured since the trans crossmember is the same bb/sb  the length would be very close. Wasnt sure about 904 vs 727 for starter location, but should work. The negative cable would be the short or long for how they bolt to the engine I would assume...
