Hey JUst curious about 2 things.
a) "the 70 T/A Challenger - manual steer needs to rotate 6 times lock-lock" - Is this an inherent problem with Manual steer in general or just with the old style box? - If i went rack and pinion manual steer, will i still have that problem or would it be eliminated?
b) "the 70 T/A Challenger - rear wheels (axel) moves up and down alot over bumps" - Does the XV lvl 1 Kit eliminate this problem or is this the type of problem where you have to modify entire car (cut out replace) to fix it?
THanks and keep up the good work on XV -
BTW I was just wondering, will XV ever test out the lvl 1 kit vs a stock 70 challenger (the bolt in package) just to see how it works compare to that of the original setup? (no chasis reinforcing as the original 1 didnt have that either) Just use the stuff the original car used just in XV Make to see how it works compare to the original... ?
re: STEERING BOXES
If I remember (may not be 100%)-
Manual boxes were 24:1 5-3/4 turns and there was an optional 16:1 box 3.5 turns.
Power was 21:1 3.5 turns. T/A had long pitman arm, 2-3/4 turns.
We have the long pitman arms available.
The ratio on a rack, will be dependent on the rack used - not whether it is power or manual, but the ratio of the rack itself.
On our level II we use a quick ratio, variable rate modern rack.
re: AXLE HOP
Our Level I suspension eliminates axle hop.
Get the DVD from our site, it's actually covered when we did the track testing for Level I on the video.
Shocks were adjusted and dialed it out. It's right on the video.
re: LVL I VS STOCK
We didn't compare just installing a Level I kit and nothing else. However, one of our customers just did this on his T/A and ran it at our open track event. I'll see if we can't get him to post here - I think he is a member here
Here's some pics of his car in action - bone stock other than Level one and BFG Comp T/A's.
He is very happy with the improvement, but hopefully he can tell you himself.
