Starter Motor

[trouble]

I pulled my starter out to replace it.
I found numbers on the top side of the starter,that maybe someone hear can tell me what they are.
If it isn't an original starter,then I will go out and buy a new one.
If it is original then I will have it rebuilt.
My car was built late 69,and engine is 69.

NO way that's the original. The originals were big torpedos that weighed a ton. That looks like a mini-starter. Is that bottom number not a date code of 1979?

I agree with Mike. I always refer to the 10/01 Mopar Muscle and their date code guide. It may or may not be definitive but it has yet to fail me     Can you see a 'wheel' type image like what is found on alternators? There's where your date code will be located (on the actual body of the starter). The year is at the center; however many spokes contain dots will tell the month.

 definatly looks like it could be an original small block starter to me ,& date Could line up , last digit 9 is 69 ,79,89

Is it only for a small block?
I have a 440 6 pack and it has been in there for years.

the motor windings look short , but it definatly could be big block , there is a bout 1/4" difference in the length of the body [longer] for big block

Al, I would have that one rebuilt until you find the correct one. That one is a original but maybe for a small block. The mini starters are real small and look like a import.

Vinny,I called Bill.He said it's a 69 starter,and that he sold all the ones that he had.
He will try and locate one for me.There was another number that stated it is for a 69.

How is this for luck.
I sent my starter out to be rebuilt.I brought it to someone who has been in business since 1947,the next town over.the Starter I gave him is number 2095150 which is for a 67-69 car.
I told him I was looking for a correct starter number 2875560 which is for 1970-73.
The one on the right is for a 69,and the one on the left is for a 70.

So who did you bring it too? They look good, now you have a back up.. If it was reasonable you should get a back up alternator ..

As for the alternator,I so happen to have the original 37 amp alternator for my car.
