LED lights for brake, tail and turn signals
« on: November 04, 2007 - 01:14:38 PM »
Has anyone tried the plug in LED solutions out there for standard single and dual filment bulbs?  I thought I remember a thread recently about building LED arrays for Ebodys but wasn't sure this topic was discussed.

I have been following some threads on BMW boards about this. These guys are anal about their cars and the way they look. They claim there are plug in LED solutions that are even brighter than stock incandescents.  I think they are a bit pricey. Has anyone tried these or similar?

Mike,

I'm not sure, as it wasn't that recent. I'll do a search and let you know if I find it.

yeah, thats the one I recalled where he made up his own LED array for his tail lights. They make referene to the other product from MuscleCar tech. I am tempted to buy a set of these to see how well they work. I am not so much looking for the multiple lights within the light but the instant on/off affect. I was concerend about candle power and how visible they are during the day.

Maybe I'll put a set on my Christmas wish list!

My 71 Cuda is going to have the HiTechLED kit installed. I may replace the other bulbs with LEDs afterward if I feel they are necessary.

If I can remember to bump this thread, I will post pictures of the results in a couple of months. :)

using LED's would require wiring a relay in the circuit, right?

I would be willing to try these.... heck... I have already WAY blown my budget - what's a bit more $$.   :faint:

no, there are units that will plug into your existing light sockets and will plug and play with less load than incandescents. However brightness can be an issue so you want to read up on what the preferred units are. I think the last time I researched this I found the brightest units (or at least the ones that got the :2thumbs: from Beemer dudes) were around ~$25/ea.

I dont know what I was thinking....

I meant flasher... I would need an LED flasher (not a relay)... for the turn signals.

Which one is correct? http://autolumination.com/equalizers.htm

Cool - so you replaced front and rear turn signals? Which ones did you use? How visible are they during the day?
