Duhhh I didn't know
« on: November 05, 2007 - 08:46:07 PM »
My 70 cuda has a key buzzer. I found it unplugged and hooked it up and it worked.  Now leaving it hooked up is another story

Anybody else have any amazing discoveries?

That is one discovery I wish I wouldnt have discovered.  That has to be THE most annoying key buzzer I've ever heard, lol.  I had a couple of cool discoveries.

Numbers matching (found out the day after I bought it)
Both broadcast sheets. (found winter after I bought it)
I have a '70 console, which I should make money by selling and buying the correct one.

Really the only other thing I would like to find is the previous owner/owners.

Glad you found it, but I agree that it can be very annoying.

Though I haven't been able to turn the key on my Chally since 1996, the minute I read your post that noise instantly went through my head  :pullinghair:
Little did I know how much I would miss that sound  :crying:
Thanks for opening up old wounds  :banghead:               J/K

Keep it connected. Some day, when you get older, you'll be glad you did.

Discovery? After a bit I discovered that I did own a rare cool car and not just another convertible.

The map light and its switch were an interesting find for me.  There was also the mini crowbar in the passenger door to keep the window from rolling down all the way for some strange reason  :dunno:

Of course, the biggest was pulling the starter thinking I had a 340 engine and seeing the big 'ole 318 stamped on the block.

Man I remember hearing that for the first time...  It was about 2 years after I had bought it, one day it started screaming at me.  I thought "What the hell?"  Did it randomly after that for about a month, but hasn't done it since.  It's been 5 years now.
Where is it?

I've found nothing special in terms of something I didn't know worked. However, I do know my car's history/lifeline, from previous owners, who painted her, imported her with photos to boot. Good to know & very interesting.

I had the same experience -- finding the buzzer -- a few months ago.  Plugged it in and  :wow:  that annoying sound.   Unfortunately, when I started her up and closed the door -- it stopped buzzing for about 5 seconds -- then started up and wouldn't stop!      So, disconnected it and threw it in the glove box (where it belongs!).

I have a '70 console, which I should make money by selling and buying the correct one.

I have seen early built 71 cars with 1970 style consoles.

Is it the original factory installed one?  Is your car an early '71 model?  Might be, never know.  If it is , I would keep it IMO.

My '72 Challenger is an early one (8/17/71) and it came with a '71 style Rallye gauge set up from the factory.  I was also hoping it came with the higher hp 340 engine but oh well....  :dunno:

When I worked in the CPD dealership back in the 70's I was one of them that had to disconnect the buzers.  Most owners did not like them very much.
