How is the cable supposed to hook on the water valve?
« on: November 07, 2007 - 11:28:43 PM »

Now that its getting cold, I guess I need to fix this:

How exactly is the temperature control cable supposed to connect to the water valve?  My 73 barracuda has AC, and sometime in the past, the previous owner decided to just try to wrap the cable around the post on the water valve.

There's probably some kind of clip or such.  Does anyone have a idea where I could get one or part numbers?

Thanks,
Covert

I know that clip is used for the heater box cables but on the valve underhood it is different

This is a picture of a 71 water valve, you can see a "V" shaped clip that holds the cable. You press the cable down into several barbs in the V.

I need one of those too, the one in the lower pic is correct for my car. Where can we get them?

 :iagree:
Its a hard clip to find. I just saw them on E bay a week ago. The V has a notched area inside that the cable slips into and holds it.
The one below could work but it wasn't the exact one.

that one looks like the cable is situated 90degrees from the retaining clip. I'll have to revisit mine but I think the cable should be in line with the retaining tab.
