thank you brad, and thank you all for all the encouragement and help with this.  come a long way together.   figured i'd share sum teaser pix with you.   ever closer.   waiting on parts.  dialing her in. finally a little real free time.  fighting the deckled on one side after weatherstripping.  might have to cut 1/4" off the top of the hinge. trunk popper in.  got the taillight trim rings and plate frame in gloss, working on tinting the rear lenses.   front end came together nicely. little things now. 70 front insert.  some custom running lights.     oh and the vin is on.   gonna run just a trans am fender tag.  and my weapon of choice for paint.  a local co. company.

I've always liked the red accents in the 72-74 grill. Thanks for leaving them intact!

I've always wondered, what is the purpose of the "x" on the headlights?

Road course racers put them across the headlights in case one broke. That way the glass stayed more intact and didn't scatter all over the track.    It's just a "look"    [And I like to be different]    :big smile:

after taping off the flat and gettn my buff on,I'm laying out the stripes.  Never noticed the jaggedness or stair stepping on the fender section before. A quick google  image search shows that's just  how they are.   Hard to notice.   Some other issues: The original stripe is black with the rear door gap designed into one of the strobes.  Effectively hiding the gap there.   In this situation I didn't want the door gap running through the red.  Had to remove one strobe and shift the rear section forward a little.  And that creates a very small discrepancy in height. Can you notice?  The stripe does not fit the reproduction quarters very well. They seem to be flatter along the top.  Making this ever more tough to get where I want.  Got some special stipe juice to try.    Decided on the black outline at the CUDA340 part.     Not really looking forward to this as it's not perfect.   Only thing i could do is try some spaced out relief cuts.

Am I nuts?  :dunno:

I see your dilemma. Tough call... I would be tempted to lay it out as intended with the red removed piece on the door gap and stick it to see just that piece to see how the door gap looks.
That is, just the single piece on the door gap by itself...
If it looks okay, then lay the rest down. If you don't like the red with the gap then...  :dunno: not sure which way I would go if Red was the strobe color I wanted.
Matt Black on Black would look awesome too.
I put 3 different Hockey Sticks on to get to the one that looked right. I would hate to have to remove all those little pieces. What a pain it is to get off!

I chose to do it like this. The spacing just worked out better.     Tail light trim rings are on. Tried tinting them. It blocked out too much light.  Might try something lighter.   Front valance inserts in.  Roseville broke the shipping record with that one. Thanx Dave!!      Crazy to see it with the stripe.  Like a kid in a candy store over here!!
