Please? I am going to see a house tomorrow and I'd like to make sure that my car will fit. OOOOOOOOOOH, and maybe the full length of the car. I have a '71 with bumperettes. THANKS!!

 :feedback:

My car is at my parents house and i wont get a chance to measure it before tomorrow morning. I figure you could roll down both windows and run the tape through the car to the outside of the mirrors.

I believe that the length is around 16 feet.  Width is just under 8.  Someone correct me if I'm wrong.  I measured mine a few weeks ago, but have a hard time remebering now.  I would measure right now, but mine is put away at a friends.   :walkaway:

I just went out to measure:

Width is about 76", mirror to mirror.  Was tought to do by myself so I went across the trunk lid and I have the body side moulding which sticks out wider than the mirrors and it was about 76" laying the tape measure across the trunk lid.

Length like 71bigblock said is 16 feet, provided you don't have driving lights/trailer hitch/etc.  You bumperttes may stick you out a couple more inches.

Hope this helps.  :)  Might be good to wait and get a 2nd opinion.  I used a "Made in China" tape measure!

SuperBlue was right. the widest point is at the body line above the rear wheels.

if anyone is interested my car was 75" wide (6'3") without side moulding, and 15'8" long with bumperettes.

Thanks man!!

yep! its 20' X 9.5' , not ideal for the workshop i wanted. but, it will get the car out of the weather! my GF rules, she was worried the car wasnt going to fit, and if it didnt we were going to pass on the house! needless to say an offer is going in today...  :chatting:

Wow!  If she was concerned that your car wouldn't fit and would pass on that house because of that?

You better marry her!!!   :grinyes:  Most wives would start saying the car has to stay out in the cold or worse....  :-[

Oh yeah, its going quite well...

we may have to compromise and quiet down the car a little, but thats not a bad compromise!

I just had a thought because I went through the same thing when I bought my home. The garage may be 9.5 feet wide BUT what about the door opening? I'm lucky to have 6 inches (don't go there) on either side when pulling in.

HaHa, yeah i considered that. i figure i can pull toward the right a little more and maybe put some padding on the wall just in case. im just happy to get my car out from under the car cover, which for some reason coats the car in a grey dust everytime i use it. so, every single drive is time for a wash and dry. it gets real old.  :burnout:
