I think the 509 has about 248 duration @0.050 which wouldn't be crazy in a 470 but you might as well look for roller cams.  I would contact Hughes Engines or perhaps Comp Cams for help.  When I contacted Crane for my small block stroker they recommended a much more aggressive cam than Hughes.  I was happy with the Hughes selection.

OK, - this "509" is that the lift..??? And is it a hydralic cam..???

In the good old days, I run an original 440/6pack hyd. cam, Perfect, at that time..
It was a 308* - What would that be in todays 0.050 mess, and how much lift did it have..???

308 would be the advertised duration.  The duration @ 0.050" would be less.  You can't tell what the other specs would be exactly without finding the cam card or the cam number and going back to the mfg.  This would not have been a mild cam - strip only.  The Mopar 509 cam is a hydraulic flat tappet cam.

personally I think the mopar solid .528 lift cam is the best for the street... low duration and wide centerline 114*

440-1 are more of a track head...

Be sure you don't go too small with the cam selection.  That stroker needs a little bit of a cam in order to feed those deep cylinders......

Problem with going off a old cam that was made 20+ years ago is even if its called the same now, like Comps 280, is the grind is a bit diff. now than 20+ years ago.

Even saids it somewhere on their web site, we are always upgrading the cam grinds for todays tech. Or something like that.

Who built the motor ? Maybe ask the builder if you can.

I like this cam with 1.6 ratio rockers ,
What do you want , personally I perfer the solid grinds over Hydraulics , I use a lot of custom ground Lunati cams in the .570 lift range with 240* @.050 , they idle well & make a Lot of power & vacuum , I can get you specs to order one if needed , Engle cams also has similar grinds available in the KV series
